After two years of back and forth email exchanges, Donald Trump accepted to answer our questions. Interview.

 

What is your opinion on the real estate market in the United States and the rest of the world?

Although the situation is difficult, there are always opportunities, which is a good thing. When I entered the real estate market in New York, everyone told me that the timing was wrong; But that was what I wanted to do. So, I persevered and it paid off. The US market alternates between good and bad periods, but this is an excellent time to buy. I have done very well recently and I am sure the market will recover very soon. Overall, we have all experienced setbacks, but such are the real estate cycles.

What scenario do you foresee for the coming years?
It's hard to say, but as I just mentioned, real estate runs in cycles, just like many other industries. Things are changing. You have to know how to keep the right attitude when things are going badly to take advantage of future increases. ​

Can you give us an overview of the main projects that your organization is currently managing around the world?

We are moving forward! It's a very motivating time. We bought the Doral in Miami, which is 800 hectares; it is now called Trump National Doral and includes five championship golf courses and a 700-room hotel. It will be grandiose. We have also been selected as the developers of the famous Old Post Office Building in Washington, D.C., which will become a 300-room luxury hotel but will retain its original façade. In addition, we have made many acquisitions, and Trump International Golf Links in Aberdeen has already been hugely successful and received numerous awards. It's a very busy and productive time.

What do you think of Luxembourg, especially from a real estate point of view?

I do not know Luxembourg well enough to give you an informed answer. I know that Luxembourg is in a pivotal position geographically speaking, which gives it a strategic advantage. It is also a beautiful country. It should do very well, both in real estate and in other sectors.
