"The common objective of ALCO and the House of Training is to offer an essential and complete certified training course. This allows for the development of all the skills necessary for the exercise of the function of Compliance Officer,” explains Hervé Ballone, co-president of ALCO, and Fabian Longo, Head of Banking & Finance at the House of Training. Interview.

How are the training needs of Compliance Officers changing?

The needs of Compliance Officers are evolving towards the need for absolute technical mastery of the regulatory framework and its developments, as well as the application of these within their company. This role also includes an advisory component to management. The Compliance Officer has thus become a pivotal partner in societal, environmental and digital transformation. Candidates’ needs are therefore reflected in the acquisition of skills, know-how and interpersonal skills. On the strength of these observations, the common objective of ALCO and the House of Training is to offer an essential and complete certified training course. This allows the development of the skills necessary to exercise the function of Compliance Officer who can best ensure continuing compliance within the companies employing them to protect them from fines and potential lawsuits. In addition, access to these functions requires increased training upstream.

“This approach favors above all the exchange and sharing of best practices with our experts and thus contributes to strengthening the skills of this community”

Can you describe the Compliance Officer program carried out in collaboration with the House of Training?

Preventing and managing the risk of non-compliance begins with training. This allows everyone to increase their knowledge and skills to better understand their professional environment and gain efficiency. It is an essential landmark in a world undergoing profound change. ALCO and the House of Training have built a 40-hour compliance training program, adapting and certifying the course to meet these needs. This program comprises three levels: Firstly, dealing with the fundamentals of compliance; secondly an intermediate technical level dealing with case studies of the regulatory framework and finally a master’s level on application. The latter takes the form of a group workshop, the objective of which is to prepare the participants to present a case for consideration by a jury of professionals. The jury evaluates both the group work and individual skills, aptitudes, technical and personal information. This approach favors above all the exchange and sharing of best practices with our experts and thus contributes to strengthening the skills of this community. More information on this training is available on the House of Training website.

How do you facilitate access to this training?

Since training is a regulatory obligation, the House of Training offers group training sessions that can be adapted to the needs of a company. Following the pandemic, most House of Training courses are offered in both face-to-face and remote formats. Certain modules of the Compliance Officer certification course are scheduled in these two formats on different dates, which are regularly updated on the House of Training website. Thanks to this flexible approach, the latter can now successfully certify more than 30 Compliance Officer candidates per year.
